Yanhui Hu

Yanhui (Claire) Hu, received her undergraduate degree from Beijing University studying biochemistry. She attended graduate school at the Molecular, Cellular Biology program of University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Her thesis research in Dr. Lawrence Schwartz’s laboratory, focused on the functions of Lepidopteran DALP, and its mammalian ortholog HIC-5, during programmed cell death and muscle differentiation using cell-base assays. She joined Harvard Institute of Proteomics as a post-doc fellow in 2000 and has been working as a Bioinformatician since 2001. She developed MedGene and BioGene, text-mining tools to identify genes associated with human diseases as well as biological/chemical themes from PubMed literature. She also does full-scale informatics support from experiment design to data analysis for various high-throughput projects.
